Robert Scoble – PodTech
Cyrille de Lasteyrie "Vin-Vin" - Seesmic
With 3G phones no major network can ignore user generated video content. In the case with Sessmic, Scoble thinks it's one thing when there is only 2000 users, as you can still view most of the content you want - but when you have 200,000,000, its different and there needs to be some peer review.
Mashups - Jeff thinks that we're not so far off from digitized actors - it will be possible in the future to scan in an actor/actress and create content without the further participation of the actors; it seems radical now but probably won't be in the future - and a Hollywood strike would have a different meaning then.
TechCrunch reported Robert Scoble is leaving PodTech on January 15th (Scoble To Leave PodTech, Heading For Fast Company) and Robert Scoble confirmed the rumor but said he does not know where he's going yet - possibly Fast Company - but he doesn't have a signed contract yet.
"..Scoble isn’t saying if he’ll continue to use the same format as his current show, ScobleShow
, where he interviews entrepreneurs daily. Another big question is whether his sponsor, Seagate, will follow him to Fast Company. It’s rumored Seagate is paying a massive fee to sponsor the show.
This is another blow for PodTech, which has already lost its founding CEO and is nearly out of money. The company has run through $7.5 million in funding. They are rumored to be closing on another million or so in bridge financing. But they’re very, very close to the deadpool."
It's no surprise Scoble is leaving PodTech, I'm surprised he stayed at PodTech as long as he had - it's a sinking ship and has been for the last 6 months or more. Nevertheless, I did not directly ask him about it though, but I suppose I could if I bump into him today before leaving Leweb3 and hanging out in Paris this evening.
