Visualizing the Social Network

B.L. Ochman plugged me into David Armano at Logic+Emotion that has a map of Social Networks.

This map would be nice if it could have the top thematic (semantic) information of each community overlayed - then I could choose which community I want to be part of visually, in a birds eye view.

Also, I could get information on each community based on what is extracted via crawlers. I know there’s products that sorta look like they do this - but just for blogs - not for communities.

These bloggers are measured employing an algorithm of its own. <br> <br>On the other hand, bloggers have ready access to relevant materials and contents, and these are presented to them according to the interests that they expressed beforehand. Something that is strongly emphasized online is that Blogio is not a pay to post program, but rather a new model that hopes to give bloggers a ready chance to improve the quality of their contents, in a dynamic way. <br> <br>The inspiration behind such a service is providing a financial model providing marketers and bloggers the chance to come up with a more fluid relationship, and (ultimately) give the blogging movement as a whole added oomph. That is certainly a very commendable objective, and all the elements for a successful web service are firmly into place. <p>Local governments generally deny that they use traffic tickets to raise revenue, but two economists who reviewed tickets issued in North Carolina <a href="http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/business/stories.nsf/yourmoney/story/7788F79C1BEA1C52862575360005B4AD?OpenDocument">drew conclusions</a> that tend to confirm a common suspicion: traffic tickets are more about generating dollars than public safety.</p> <blockquote>Traffic tickets go up significantly when local government revenue falls, they found. Their study showed for the first time evidence of how "local governments behave, in part, as though traffic tickets are a revenue tool to help offset periods of fiscal distress." ... <p>Controlling for other factors, a 1 percentage point drop in local government revenue leads to a roughly .32 percentage point increase in the number of traffic tickets in the following year, a statistically significant connection.</p></blockquote> <p>Rising unemployment rates also correlate with increased ticketing. As the recession pinches local budgets, expect more traffic citations to be issued.
