Microsoft adopts WebTrends for it’s own Web Analytics Reporting

What?  Microsoft is adopting WebTrends as it’s global Web Analytics standard YET it just bought DeepMetrix last month.   What gives?

On the surface, it sounds strange but it may be Microsoft is just using WebTrends to report on it’s own Web Performance.

PORTLAND, Ore - June 5, 2006 - WebTrends Inc., the market leader for web analytics and Marketing Performance Management solutions, today announced that Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) has chosen WebTrends® On Demand as its web analytics solution.

Between May and December of 2005 Microsoft.com launched a search for a third-party web analytics solution, evaluating a number of vendors to replace a variety of solutions in use throughout its organization. The goal of this effort was to select a solution that would offer enhanced reporting functionality and consistent metrics across functional groups within Microsoft.

Maybe LiveStats.BIZ or LiveStats.NET would not have cut it for a company as large as Microsoft.

In a great win for WebTrends, Microsoft has chosen them as the analytics provider for all of Microsoft’s web properties.
Their press release covers the reasons why Microsoft made that choice.  It should be a good momentum boost for Webtrends as …
