Quantcast Analytics Targets Small Publishers

John Gartner at MarketingShift mentions a new analytics service that provides audience measurement to a site for free, called Quantcast.  I thought I’d try it on Webmetricsguru.com and see what I pull up.

First, while the accuracy could be better if I embed some javascript on my site so it can collect more detailed data, what is provided is still very helpful.

According to the top chart, more 5% more woman read my blog then men with a variety of ages, but the largest amount - people over 45 years of age.

The majority of visitors that come to Webmetricsguru.com have children between 6-17 years of age and almost half of the visitors to my site make over 60,000 a year in income with 32% making over 100,000 a year (about half of the visitors make less than 60K as well).

85% of the visitors are white and 9% are asian.  Here’s the first glitch and may be why they need the tracking code in your site.  Quantcast says that half of my visitors make over 60K but they’re also saying 63% did not graduate college…that’s not possible!

Quantcast also says I get about 1,000 uniques a month though I’m not sure that’s correct.

I think this product is great fun and interersting research - I’d like to see what the difference would be in the numbers if i had the tracking code installed.  I suggest people try the tool out, it’s free.
