Thor, my favorite Marvel Comic book (when it was well drawn and written) is going to be made into a full length movie, to premiere in 2009, by Marvel Studios according to Gary Bourgeault at Bizofshowbiz.com in a post titled Matthew Vaughn Picked by Marvel Studios to Direct "Thor". 

Had no idea there are so many restaurants and sporting goods companies named after Thor like the Thoratec Corporation, a manufacturer of circulatory support products for use by patients with heart failure (HF). There's also a Wikipedia entry about Thor; Thor is the son of Odin and the giantess Jörd (Jord, the Earth) with a wife called Sif.  Meanwhile, the Encyclopedia Mythica  says Thor was very popular as the protector of both gods and humans against the forces of evil. He even surpassed his father Odin in popularity because, contrary to Odin, he did not require human sacrifices.  

It should be interesting to see what Marvel Pictures does with the Thor Movie; I was hoping they'd make a movie about Thor but realized it's probably harder than making a movie about Spider Man, Iran Man or the Hulk, because of the religious overtones.

I'm glad Gary Bourgeault wrote about Thor 2009 as otherwise, I'd probably never know about the Thor movie - he did the same thing for me with the Iron Man Trailer and Iron Man movie.
