SocComm – Social Media & Multiple Personality Disorder

First Generation of Social Media-
We moved into an environment where you could adopt persona’s depending on where you happen to be, but now everyone knows you are a dog (if you are flaming, for example).

Ketchum example and FedEx and the random comment.

The age of anonymity is vanishing but there are no rules, we’re in a strange place and we need to figure out what makes sense now (a.k.a Blogging Confidential).

For example, Michael Phellps case applied to Scott Monty, if he were photographed with a bong , for example, what would happen? Would we have confidentiality clauses by employers?

You need to have a discussion, such as IBM, which boils down to “don’t be stupid”.

If you have a vested interest, transparency rules.

Dell has done hybrid (Richard@Dell.com)

If you don’t have a blogging policy, use privacy settings.

SocComm – SoMo, a look at the future of the Social Mobile space

Posted by Marshall Sponder on February 10, 2009 | Link It

Matthew Snyder CEO of ADObjects, sitting second from left, is a friend and has a presentation (which he doesn’t have time to show today).
2010 is the inflection point for mobile. Matt’s agency matches up analog (social media) and mobile (digital).

Justin Segal, (second of right) CEO of MocoSpace says that 1/3 of those on a date are fitting with someone else using a mobile device and many have broken up with a date using a mobile device – check out Mashable’s post on this subject at Social Media Stats: Your Significant Other is Shady

Nihal Mehta, CEO, Buzzd developed his platform to find out what’s being said in a location without going. Buzzd sounds pretty interesting and you can use Facebook with it and use your profile with it.

What we’ve seen over last 3 years is moving from early adopters to the established mainstream.

Mobile is so personal.
