As a Web Analyst I’ve found Social Media tools such as AlterianSM2 Techrigy, Radian6, next to useless in geo locating food bloggers and others who might be interested in an event like this, and that, social networks like Meetup and local directories are usually much, much more effective – in fact, I wrote a post about it last month.
In this regard, Twitter‘s new geo-location capabilities, as highlighted by TechCrunch‘s post on Twitter Can Now Know Where You Tweet, should go a long way toward plugging a hole that Social Media monitoring tools have had – they’re been lousy and geolocation, period.
