Twitter Analytics and other news – Web Journal – Sept 5-13th 2011

Just heard that Twitter Analytics (what was once BackType) was launched – which will be able to:

  • Understand how much your website content is being shared across the Twitter network
  • See the amount of traffic Twitter sends to your site
  • Measure the effectiveness of your Tweet Button integration
I have to believe there will be yet another JavaScript tag to add to our sites (to get Twitter traffic), unless we can put in any url at all and Twitter will tell us how much traffic it sends (I would not mind that solution, actually, but I wonder if it would fly with many businesses, especially larger businesses).
….
Tonight, I was at a SearchMetrics.com private party that was also part of the Social Media Club NYC that took place at the Roger Smith Hotel.  I saw some exciting stuff that SearchMetrics is brewing up that will soon be released, including a Social Media Dashboard that looked pretty nice.   I’ll have more to say about the new SearchMetrics.com offering once I have had a chance to play with it in a few weeks.
Getting to the journal part – there is still a lot of feelings being shared about Trey Pennington’s suicide last week – and I still can’t get entirely over it – but neither have others.   And both Klout and Twitter seem to have magically reached the 100 million (active?) members number during  the same week.   Also, Google bought Zagat which shocked some people and thrilled others.
