Posted by Marshall Sponder on February 05, 2010 | Link It

I posted on this recently but now that our main page is up and we’ve mailed our 88 members of the NY DataStories Meetup – I wanted to share that mailing and the agenda with my readership.

Please join us on Feb 16th for our next DATASTORIES meetup – For more details, see the full listing:
http://www.meetup.com/NY-Data-Stories-Digital-Insights-Analytics/calendar/12488829/

When: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 6:00 PM

Where:
Phaidon Books
100 Wooster Street between Spring St & Prince St
New York, NY 10012
(212) 925-1900

We have a fantastic lineup this month including our main speaker, Greg Stuart, who headed the Internet Advertising Bureau to the creation of a set on advertising web standards that govern much of online commerce, today. Greg is going to discuss why standards matter and I’ll nudge him to talk about the evolution of Web Standards (and why we need them for Social Media Monitoring, as well).

If the changes affect your plans to attend, please take a moment to update your RSVP. (You can RSVP “No” or “Maybe” as well as “Yes”.)

You can always get in touch with me through the “Contact Organizer” link on Meetup:http://www.meetup.com/NY-Data-Stories-Digital-Insights-Analytics/suggestion/

DataStories was an idea some say I came up with – I’ll be more modest and say the idea came about in a conversations earlier last year where I expressed a desire to have a meetup of my own that dealt with companies sharing their Online Web Data with an audience, real time – where the audience participates and tries to come up with the meaning of the data(just by the charts and presented and what is discussed around the analytics as it is presented, realtime).

We had the first DATASTORIES meetup at GooglePlex East, here in NYC, last May, and 200 people attended – security passes and all just to get into the GooglePlex – and it was sponsored by DoubleClick and SEMPO.

Now we are a group of our own and our first meetup at Phaidon Books is like a dream come true – Phaidon is an art and photography publisher based in Europe that opened up a flagship store in Soho a few months ago – strolling into Phaidon recently – I imagined this could be our next meetup location – and so it came to be.

If you into any form of analytics or metrics or, even, Art,  and your in NYC on the 16th, join us at Phaidon Books for our next DataStories meetup.

By the way, if any of my readers has questions for Greg Stuart, please send them to me at now (dot) seo (at) gmail (dot) com.
