I was at an event last night, and one of the speakers talked about ‘social media’ as being completely the wrong term to describe the industry. Do you think the problem is when we hear ‘media’ we naturally associate it with ‘mass media’ which is the polar opposite of what social is?

wikiepdia defines Media in the context of communication as:-

‘In communication, media (singular medium) are the storage and transmission channels or tools used to store and deliver information or data’

Is what we are seeing is good, old fashioned conversations using ‘media’ as the platform?

What were the suggestions from the Influencer Summit on correct terminology?
