If you just want to get a quick sense of what kinds of activities people are doing in Social Web, look no further than TrendStream’s Global Map of Social Web
The map of Social Web illustrates peoples participation across the world.
The map is created from data collected as part of the Global Web Index research program, which analyzes web usage, social web and associated impact in 16 countries across the globe.
I think the map is self explanatory though the coding could be better – that’s why I put the color code key above a section of the the map, above.
I suppose, if there was a way to superimpose the Web usage map with other maps, like the 3D Map of the World Wide Web (below), it might make some interesting mashups.

Then again, CNNMoney’s World of the Internet Map, with full zoom, seems like it should also be mashed up with the Social Media Usage Map, whereas, if you just need a list of Social Media sites (for Web Analytics segmentation purposes) – try this one.
