Blogger Outreach by PR Agencies/Marketers

Posted by Marshall Sponder on August 27, 2009 | Link It

Not sure what the difference between Marketers and PR Agencies – EMarketer released a study today, on the close relationship between bloggers and marketers, saying that bloggers like being contacted by PR agencies, especially in Asia-Pacific (see below):

111

Bloggers in Select Regions Who Welcome Contact from PR Firms*, April-May 2009 (% of respondents)

All of the US bloggers surveyed by Text 100 had been contacted by marketers in the past six months. Majorities in Europe and Asia-Pacific said the same, at 86% and 70%, respectively.

222

Bloggers in Select Regions Who Have Been Contacted by PR Firms*, April-May 2009 (% of respondents)

A big part of running a social media campaign involves identifying influential bloggers and outreaching to them.

Why is the percentage of bloggers who are receptive to PR outreach higher in AP?  What do you think?

Social Media ROI Presentation by Olivier Blanchard,

Posted by Marshall Sponder on August 26, 2009 | Link It

I like Olivier Blanchard‘s presentation on Social Media ROI – esp the part of overlaying the time-lines, then using process of elimination to prove a Social Media Campaign worked, or not.

I’m working on some projects where this kind of thinking is becoming more important – esp in the Public Relations sphere – which is, I believe, where Olivier Blanchard also operates out of.

Anyway, here’s the presentation – I have to learn to do presentations like this – mine are too literal – noticed most of the people I run into at conferences do presentations just like Oliver’s – don’t know if that makes them good or not, but it does make the information easier to absorb.
