Complete Web Monitoring by Alistair Croll and Sean Power and thoughts about it

I looked at the entire deck of Complete Web Monitoring by Alistair Croll and Sean Power that was presented at Emetrics San Jose earlier this month and here’s my thoughts about it.

I thought it was a pretty good summary of the issues of tracking activity before it gets to a website and after it leaves, along with everything in between, including web connectivity and performance issues.

Slide 6 – What We Could Watch is pretty good summary of what you need to have in order to fully monitor your traffic – all the products and platforms – and hopefully, have them in sync.

Slide 13 – Interesting – but the authors didn’t explain how that diagram came to be – what product did they use – or was it an illustration of traffic they got from Twitter on a campaign and they summarized the activity in an illustration?

Slide 19 – Most Valuable slide in the the whole deck if it can be proven -

If that’s really true – what does that say about a lot of sites? All I can say is …Wow!

Who knows, maybe LESS is MORE….ha, ha, ha!

Slide 138 had a very good visualization – if this kind of diagram can be recreated, it would would be nice to have to support whatever point you want to make about monitoring and performance of a website.

Slides 140-145 are also very good – so the book, when it’s published, will be a must have.
