I’m at the Brooklyn Future Meetup tonight featuring Strauss Zelnick on Gaming, Media, and Entertainment +30, in Dumbo, Brooklyn (just next to the Brooklyn Bridge). Here’s the marketing notes:
March 3rd we will turn our discussion to the world of entertainment +30 years. As usual, we will kick off with a presentation and proceed into a mixed Q/A and discussion.
Our featured guest and presenter will be Strauss Zelnick. Strauss, who runs ZelnickMedia, is currently the Chairman of Take-Two Interactive Software (the makers of Grand Theft Auto) and sits on the board of directors of Blockbuster Inc. and Naylor, LLC.
Prior to founding ZelnickMedia, Strauss served as the President and CEO of BMG Entertainment, and the COO of 20th Century Fox (among other roles). He has served on the boards of the RIAA and the MPAA.Read more
Strauss Zelnick opens up comparing 1969 to now, who speaks very fluently.
Strauss is behind Grand Theft Auto and.is predicting what the future of entertainment and gaming will be in 30 years.
1. Change in way entertainment is distributed.
2. Convergence of our systems
Newspapers and printed books will be gone, we’ll use electronic paper instead.
Some of the future might be something I don’t like such embeddable chips and georargeting of our whereabouts ( death of privacy which will lead to a privacy movement all governments can embrace).
I can’t keep up with everything Strauss is saying but I feel I understand it. Need for Affinity will drive more inperson social networking than now, even.
Social Networking will begin to make sense, too, and we’ll spend a lot more on Entertainment.
Questions:
1. Do you see all the changes as being technology driven? We’re going to see a divergence based on quality.
