I met Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of RUN DMC today at EngageExp0 09 NYC today – didn’t “know” I was actually going to meet Darryl McDaniels, actually, I didn’t remember what I was invited to and just happened to be there. According to Wikipedia -
“…Run-D.M.C. was an influential hip hop group from Hollis, in the Queens borough of New York City. Founded by Joseph “DJ Run” Simmons, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam-Master Jay” Mizell, the group is arguably the most important and influential act in the history of hip hop. They were the biggest act in hip-hop throughout the 1980s and are credited with breaking hip hop into mainstream music.[1][2] In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked them number 48 in their list of the greatest musical artists of all time.[2] In 2007, the trio was named Greatest Hip Hop Group of All Time by MTV.com [3] They were also named Greatest Hip Hop Artist of All Time by VH1.[4] They will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 4, 2009, the second hip-hop group to be inducted.[5]
RUN DMC is also going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month .. according to Suite 101
Run-D.M.C. joins an stellar group of artists with its induction on April 4, 2009 into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, joining with hundreds of performers inducted in the past two decades. They are only the second hip-hop group, after Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, to be inducted.
Well … I had a pretty engaging conversation with Darryl McDaniels and
found out he spends about 3 or 4 hours a day online on Social Networks, mainly MySpace and now, his own World – which will launch at the end of March.
In fact, all of Darryl “DMC” McDaniels friends in the music world communicate with each other and him using Social Networks – HA! But don’t take my word for it – listen to Darryl tell you himself, must of the information is in the first video, but the second or third also have good info worth viewing in full. Warning – I’m not the great with the camera but …. I managed to get some really good shots.
And here’s the other 2 videos

Here’s some music from RUN DMC – Enjoy – and give me your feedback.
By the way, I did ask about Metrics – and found out that the new RUN DMC world will have some basic metrics, but probably ought to be running Code4Software.com V-Tracker (just a shameless plug) in conjunction with whatever they’re collecting and their house data (from backend databases).
