Being Moms in the Digital Social Evolution
This is an interesting panel with Katja Presnal (far left most in the photo) I have met Katja before at a tweetup. Mommy bloggers care about the Internet AND their children. Katja is doing Social Media consulting and PR. Audrey McClelland managed to find a way to work from home, have children and still make money.
Beth Feldman worked at CBS for 19 years and left in 2007, and now works for herself (Rolemommy.com).
Organic community had evolved in the last 10 years and moms control 2.5 Trillion dollars of spending and 80% of all household spending is controlled by moms.
Katja didn’t even think about profit, though she follows 7000 accounts on Twitter, and many are moms and mommy bloggers.
Mommy Bloggers believe in their opinions and content, a real voice, a trusted entity, and many do this for free, to share, being paid would detract from their authenticity.
Opportunity of a lifetime, companies are drawing at moms, like those in the panel, to invite them to events and to participate. Katja actually commented on Motrin PR campaign, and made a 9 minute video seen by many.
Companies need to be aware of who their target market is and where the live (online).
A very interesting comment at the end on Greco, and Grecobsby.com.
