Been so busy lately that I haven’t had time to write up many of the great things that I see, like Klout – a new way to measure Social Media in Twitter.
BTW, I’m in catchup mode, and Webmetricsguru.com has been down a lot more than usual lately, due to hosting issues that I hope, will be resolved soon.
And I was interested on how my “K-Score” was calculated (20 factors from Twitter, etc) (I guess mine is perfect – at 42, the other day – but then I posted some more on twitter and it moved up to 44 – darn - as, isn’t that the secret of the universe according to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy? - Ha, ha.)

Actually, the video above explains what Klout is, and how you can get it; you can see my data at here along with those who are influenced by me and whom I influence – according to Klout.

Right now, I don’t think Klout can be used as any kind of standard – and I think we’d need a lot more people to set up profiles on Klout (which means Klout needs to come out of Beta Invite Only mode) to make this influencer/influenced list/charts/history that useful – and the fact they’re looking at only Twitter – and not anything else – makes it easy for them to do the scoring of each profile, but makes that score much more limiting – as it’s only about your Twitter Influence – not your true online influence – and they could have grabbed the higher resolution of my photo – as it looks blurry when they blow it up, but didn’t have to be (personally, I’d like to be looking “sharp” instead of blurry, if I have anything to say about it).

I think the visualizations are interesting too – especially the sector chart which suggest that my online influence (at least, on Twitter) is based on my “Persona”, mainly,
Persona – You have built a personal brand around your identity. There is a good chance that you work in social media or marketing but you might even be famous in real life. Being a persona is not just about having a ton of followers – to make it to the top right corner you need to engage with your audience. Make no mistake about it though, when you talk people listen.
But that’s only to most of the those I influnece – one of the individuals I influence sees me as a “connector”
Connector – You are a constant source of information to your friends and co-workers. There is a good chance that you probably introduced several of your friends to Twitter. Your taste and opinion is respected and your judgment is trusted.
If Klout can get a large swath of the community of Twitter Users to sign up, I think it will end up being a standard for online influence, at least, on Twitter – and it will tell us more about who we influence and who influences us – in a very plausable way – and maybe we’ll be able to take some kind of action on the information.
