Dying Newspapers

After voting this morning I took the subway to work and figured I’d buy something to read.

I bought today’s morning edition of The New York Times and it cost me a $1.50.

That’s a once in a while purchase because I can get everything I want out of the online version of the newspaper for free …so why should anyone pay for it?

Besides, the online version is updated all the time while the printed newspaper is several hours behind, and some of the information is already stale.

Besides any other argument to support buying offline versions of the newspapers, unless the printed newspaper has different, but valuable information from the online version, the printed paper is doomed.

Especially in the tight economy.
