Yesterday, I was kinda put out by attempts to find locations in Paris that were difficult for even local people to know about, like the Sessmic.com meetup at 4PM in an impossible to find cafe on some rue that didn't seem to be on any map, but I'm sure existed - if you knew how to find it.
Then, I couldn't even find my way back to the Starbucks that had free wireless access (most don't, you have to pay for starbucks.fr network and it's expensive, and did not seem to be worth the money, to be frank - 4 Euros an hour).
Exhausted, I gave hooking up with anyone on the eve of LeWeb3; I possibly could have run into Robert Scoble at the Louvre, but didn't, which was OK since I was on my way out of the Louvre to find the Sessmic Cafe gathering that I ended up missing.
But last night, I got an email based on my earlier post At The Louvre today - enjoying Art from Thomas Faivre-Duboz who left a comment about a French Blogger party taking place just then (and I changed my plans and found it).
That led to a few more hours, a late night dinner and this photo (don't have the names, yet, of the bloggers I shared dinner and wine with):
Sure, I don't have an in to the more "exclusive" parties that I'd want to attend, but managed, via the Social Media of my blog - to create an opportunity that would not have happened otherwise; I think that's part of what Social Media is all about (and it's also a way to measure Social Media - but tracking what it enables).
I got back to my hotel about 2AM and collapsed, and then arose to come here, to LeWeb3, where I am now.
