Disabling Facebook Beacon - how to Opt Out of Beacon

Got this tip from Max Kalehoff on turning off Facebook Beacon

This brought me to the Facebook | My Privacy page where I turned Facebook Beacon off.

Given all the talk about Opting Out of Facebook's Beacon in the last few days, it was good that someone actually showed me how to do it.  Hopefully, I've really opted out.

 "….Facebook said it would now let members completely opt out of Beacon, its controversial advertising product that shares information about its users' purchases with their friends.

The move marks the second time in a week that the popular social networking site has been forced to respond to user backlash over Beacon, its month-old advertising tool that automatically alerts the site's millions of users about purchases and other commercial actions their friends take—whether they happen on or off Facebook. On Dec. 3 the company bowed to pressure from its members and the political organization MoveOn.org by making it easier for its users to decline to publish news about their various actions."
