I wrote up a frank assessment of my trip to LeWeb3, while on the trip back and the writeup is here.  Overall, going to Paris was a good decision though it highlighted to me, at a conference like LeWeb3, having the right connections is necessary to fully participate (which I wasn't able to do). 

Frankly, that was a concern of mine going into this - I was all too conscious that most of the parties, most of the real action, is off the stage, not on it - and that's actually where I wanted to be.

Nevertheless, I decided to have a good time and made my own luck and it generally worked out for me.
