In How Efficient is the Web at Selling High Priced Items?  Aaron Wall identified why the Web is currently a lousy place to buy high priced items.

At lower price points we are more likely to let little things slide, but almost every site undermines conversion rates. A year from now I will probably look back on this post and laugh at some of the things I was screwing up today.

Most sites are doing a lot wrong, but at lower prices, it’s easier to live with it but when it’s something higher priced, a luxury item or high priced gift, or even a considered purchase, there’s a need to get it “all” right.
