700,000th Visit to Webmetricsguru.com was from Tucker, Georgia

Ok, I managed to capture the 700,000 visit today to Webmetricsguru.com and it came from Tucker, Georgia and was looking for information on Vanessa Anne Hudgens and found my post about Vanessa Hudgens photos maxes out Google HotTrends - Updated; this person looked at 6 of my blog posts too …but I doubt I'll ever figure out who it is.

Just 9 months ago, or so, I was waiting for my 100,000th visit; had no idea I'd reach 700,000 this soon.  I guess the logical question to ask … can I reach the 1,000,000th visit this year?   My guess is, yes, if I have one or two more "hit" posts like the one I wrote on Vanessa Hudgens.  Problem is … they're not exactly on topic for Web Metrics - even though I've looked at buzz from a Web Analytics Standpoint - it's still a stretch, and one I'm not willing to make all the time.

In other words, I will write about Celebrity Buzz, if I think I can shed some light on the traffic, from a Web Analytics standpoint - but I won't, even if I can get a bit of traffic, write about Celebrity Buzz if I have nothing substantive to say about it.

That's the position I've been forced to define - because the last thing I want to see is a lot of traffic that comes to my site, but I don't have the content they're looking for.  So, unless I can in some way, add to the conversation, I don't want just any "Celebrity Buzz" that I could have - even it it means forgoing some traffic.

I guess I'm hoping something will come up that will have enough "Buzz" to it but also be something I can write about (but not be so over popular, there's no way to rank for it) where I'll plug into a community or niche and get a ton a traffic that way …but those opportunities - like the surfing waves, you have to know when to "jump" on, to catch the wave, so to speak, and I can't teach that - it's just a "gut instinct" type of thing.

I've ma gaged to get good at it - but I'm not always right either, and have written many posts that might appear to rank well, but didn't drive much traffic; still learning this thing as I go (and that's what makes it interesting - if I had everything figured out - it would be time to change what I'm doing to something else).

So, thank God that I don't have it "all figured out" and there's always more to learn about blogging and writing posts that people want to read, that inform them and start or continue a conversation.
