I was a beta tester for Compete Search Analytics - had to wait around so long before releasing any screenshots or info that others beat me to the punch of releasing stats on Compete's Search Analytics, including my friend, Sebastian over at WebAnalyticsBook.com:
"..The Comparison tool helps you understand how your search referrals stack up against other sites. I ran the Webanalyticsbook.com site against Marshall’s Webmetricsguru (which is much bigger). I kind of lost on the top 26 keywords, but for “reading tool” Webanayticsbook wins!
I guess the comparison tool works much better for similar businesses, which compete with the same keywords. In the case above it is just fun. Still I get a valuable insight on what drives Marshall’s blog traffic.
I concede on "reading tool" …. I don't think I wrote anything about reading tools, so I doubt I could do for that.
I used Compete's Search Analytics for a couple of months, often quite a bit - and found it helpful in some cases. Areas where I'd like to see more development is the use of a custom time period to run reports against … as I'm not really sure how long the data being shown above takes Compete to collect.
Yet, it must be somewhat current as it's references massive traffic driven by posts that I wrote about no more than 3 or 4 weeks ago - based on that, I think the data is probably a month or so behind, which is not bad..through it would be better if the data could even reflect yesterday or the day before.
Otherwise, I'll defer to Sebastian on his review of Compete Search Analytics as being definitive. If I write about it, it will be latter and from another standpoint.
