John Marshall quit ClickTracks.com several months ago and resurfaced today as part of a Joint Venture called MarketMotive. According to John Marshall:
"…The company is founded by myself, Michael Stebbins and Avinash Kaushik, and we're adding to the roster the top minds in Internet marketing. The distillation of our thinking, our philosophy, our advice and our tricks will be available through a subscription only website. Content within the site is exclusive material and is guaranteed to be timely and accurate. The tutorials will explain exactly how to get something done, walking you through the appropriate tools (and of course, we're vendor neutral). In addition, subscribers can hire Market Motive for direct 1:1 advice."

"….Join our membership-only learning portal where you will have access to exclusive training videos, interviews and podcasts that teach you exactly how to improve your Internet marketing. We’ve partnered with the top minds in the industry to ensure all discussions and questions have accurate, authoritative answers.
This is not a new idea, I've seen it a couple of times before with Internet Marketing – but it's the first time, to my knowledge, it's been done with Web Analytics and having all the parts of online marketing brought together in this way.
It seems to me there's a trend now to train people and give advice; up till last year, companies were developing Web Analytics offerings but there wasn't much training available or good advice to be had. I think MarketMotive is one example of target an emerging market of individuals and businesses (of all sizes) that need advice about online marketing.
So far, MarketMotive points to a couple of blogs of the founders and has a sampling of what you get if you join/contract in How to Stop Wasting Your Time with Web Analytics. IN a way, the video would have been more effective were it Viral (meaning, anyone could embed it into their blogs) but such as it is – gives a taste of what you can learn. Here's more information from John Marshall from an announcement email I received yesterday as part of my press credentials:
"…We're teaching a complete set of step by step programs for
web analytics, SEO, paid search, online press and more. The company is founded by myself, Michael Stebbins and Avinash Kaushik, and we're adding to the roster the top minds in Internet marketing. The distillation of our thinking, our philosophy, our advice and our tricks will be available through a subscription only website. Content within the site is exclusive material and is guaranteed to be timely and accurate. To the extent that a group of experts that make up MarketMotive can inform small and medium businesses of all the options while planning, rolling out and having a fully operational Web Analytics Solution that moves the business forward - I think MarektMotive has a chance to do really well.
