We had our first regular Web Analytics Wednesday (excepting the one two months ago at Search Engine Strategies Conference at the Hilton) since last October. The WAW this month was held at Barana! at 365 Park Avenue South, NYC.
Kinda dark down there … but I did take some footage and it was a fun group, if somewhat subdued. Andy Fisher, who's the Analytics Director for Avenue A Razorfish was incredibly knowledgeable and I got some good tips about where V-Tracker should be positioned (via Second Life Tracking) for the advertising market. Satnam Singh, a senior consultant at Avenue A was also present.
It was hard for me to associate names and faces, esp after I had a couple of glasses of red wine.
Also spoke with Trisha White who is in the movie I filmed and to the right of me.
Also spoke with Seth Holladay, Web Analytics Manager for Rodale and Glenn Hansen, CEO of BPA Worldwide.
Generally, Web Analytics Wednesday is a good event to attend, when it's happening, and it's in your city - go. I think we had maybe 10-12 people last night and I also invited Liz Camps and Sebastian (www.webanalyticsbook.com) though neither made it.
I like Barana! as a location - but I'm not so sure it's the best place to hold a WAW meeting because it's dark and somewhat noisy…but that's just me. My goal is to talk to everyone and hear what they're saying. Outside of that - I think it was a good meeting and I'm glad Joel Collymore organized it.
Naturally, I mentioned the work of the new Social Media Committee of the Web Analytics Association …they one I am the Director of (even though I'm still getting started) and we haven't yet held a meeting for the new committee…we will…and I made sure everyone at the WAW knew about the benefits of joining the Web Analytics Association (and working on a committee- if they want to).
The one or two WAW I have been to last year at Barana! were pretty good.
