I went to Darren Rowse's Meetup yesterday at the SpeakEasy, as I mentioned earlier that I would. I took the Subway from Brooklyn; I was at my studio but could not get much done - the memory of Paris and Aix haunted me and I could not resolve those feelings with what I had in front of me.
Restless, I made my way over to Darren Rowse, thinking that I would drop by the Metropolitan Museum or Museum of Natural History first - but the Subway was so crowded that just getting to Rowse was an achievement - I gave up on the Museum idea.
Turns out that I won all the prizes offered at the contest last night - I got the IPod Shuffle, a 15 dollar Starbucks card and a 15 dollar ITunes card, along with a T-shirt. It was a better evening than I expected - because I had no real expectation.
My feelings of sadness over leaving France earlier than I'd have preferred made going to Darren Rowse's meetup one way to compensate for missing being with the rest of the group I was with in Aix-en-Provence, touring Paul Cezanne's motifs. I have spent a large part of this Sunday posting movies to my Art Blog - www.Artnewyorkcity.com, including:
-
5 Studies from Aix-en-Provence - France (this was posted a day or so earlier)
However, if I was still feeling profound sadness, I was richly rewarded with a wonderful and long conversation with Conversation Agent blogger and overall nice person Valeria Maltoni, who I had met at the last Darren Rowse meetup a few months ago. I also met Valeria's friend, and fellow Delta Think blogger Ann Michael.
Also spoke with my friend, Mike Levin, Vice President of Connors Communication and creator of www.HitTail.com; Mike was fortunate to have a party to go to (this one) right around the corner from this own apartment - so he could really relax as he did not have far to go. There was plenty of food and drink - I think that's Darren Rowse's style; but it was not just Darren's party for Chitika and B5media was present too and I spoke with Shai Coggins of B5media.
Missed fellow blogger and friend Sebastian from www.WebAnalyticsBook.com, he did not show up - I did not really expect him to; nor did Liz Camps from www.biggreenblog.com (Green Media) to show up (but did not expect her to).
Overall, last night's meetup with Darren Rowse was great - and I even got to speak with Darren for a couple of minutes - he'll probably be back in around 6 months. A photographer was also circulating around the crowd, so I suspect I'll see a photo or two of me speaking to Valeria Maltoni popping up on the Internet - I liked the pictures I saw last time.
