Social Network for DIY’s - Refurber

Posted by Marshall on June 16, 2007 | Link It

I've been wondering for some time what a social network would look like for people that build houses or renovate them …. I could not find any that matched the clients I still have like Alan Mascord Designs - even as I've been telling them to build a social network.

Well…. it looks to me like Refurber might be the example I was looking for but never found till now.  I got the information about Refurber from TechCrunch.

"..Refurber is a new social and reference website for the Do-It-Yourself crowd from Perth, Western Australia based Vibe Capital, makers of parenting site Minti.

On Refurber, users are able to share advice on a wide range of home improvement related topics. Content throughout the site is user generated with articles being tagged, rated and commented on by the greater community to encourage integrity and relevancy in the information created."

Honestly, I'm writing this post as much to make sure I remember this site for my next Mascord.com report as I am noting the site is unusual - it's hard to find interesting social networking sites that involve architects, building, etc and I've been stumbling around for a while just trying to imagine what could be a social network for architectual house plans.

Have you seen Houseblogs.net or Curbly? I think they both pre-date Refurber.
