SpiderMan 3

Posted by Marshall on May 02, 2007 | Link It

Yesterday, on my way into work I saw a poster in a subway station advertising April 29th - May 6th as Spiderman NYC week (or something like that).  As I was on my way up to the Chelsea / Penn Station area of Manhattan, where I work, I was musing on how we got the point of having a week in NYC named after a movie - Spiderman 3 (which was filmed here, btw).

Here's the trailer for the movie, which is coming out on May 4th (tomorrow).

There was a lot of coverage on SpiderMan 3 at Know More Media - it was actually my idea to do this over a year ago - have some of Know More Media's authors focus on one topic at a time and link to each other - and I'm curious how it will work out with SpiderMan 3.

For my idea to work fully, not only would I be linking to posts such as New York City Businesses Benefit from Spider-Man 3 where it's mentioned that Sony Pictures is hosting Spider-Man Week in New York City from Monday, April 30th through Sunday, May 6t or that Tobey Maguire Likes Playing Dark Side of Spidey in "Spider-Man 3" (who would not like to play a super powerful superhero?).

But somehow, it seams like, according to RisingSunofNihon: April 2007 Archives SpiderMan 3 opens in Tokyo first, before the U.S.

My idea of blog interlinking suggests that the other bloggers who I'm linking to also need to link back to me and the other blogs I mentioned.

In terms of Buzz, just how is SpiderMan 3 doing?

Looks like a lot of Buzz - starting on April 20th and building steadily - probably though the first week that film is released (this week).  I have to wonder how much of the 805 blog posts discovered for today on Spiderman 3 are even legit - I can't read half of them (in another language) and the one's I can read, half turn out to be advertisements, not a real blog post.

It might be partly true that Buzz for Spiderman 3, is somewhat hyped, because the movie is coming out. I don't know if I'll get a chance to see Spiderman 3 this week - but I have to say, the movie looks less interesting to me, on the face of it, than Spiderman 2.  Why?

For the last year I've seen trailers on this movie that show SpiderMan turning bad, and of the familiar cast of villains coming after him.  What I need is a surprise, and I'm wondering if there are any real surprises in this movie.  I guess we'll soon know if there are.
