Lifelogging event - Destroy Television - Jerry Paffendorf, Christian Westbrook - Fuse Gallery NYC

The one event i wanted to attend this week, I did.  Last night I went over to the Fuse Gallery on 6th Street and 2nd Avenue, NYC to see Destroy Television created by Jerry Paffendorf and Christian Westbrook.

I was trying to figure out what this show was about - I knew the Second Life conection with Jerry Paffendorf as the most visible face, to me of Electric Sheep.

What I think happened last night is a live event that happened both at the Fuse Gallery and at the GHava{SL} Center for the Arts at Avigon (143,179,490) in Second Life at at SLurl: http://tinurl.com/37dryp or http://virb.com/ghavasl

One of the people I met recently at MobileCampNYC, Matthew, was at the Fuse Gallery opening last night, in the East Village, and said this was Lifelogging, and the event was being filmed at the gallery and broadcast into an almost identical room in Second Life, onto a wall. The Destroy Television project seems to be about a "shared avatar":

"…Born and raised beneath a kitchen sink in Brooklyn, Destroy Television is an avatar in the user-created 3D virtual world of Second Life. But unlike other avatars that are owned and controlled by individuals, Destroy is an expression of everyone who controls and speaks through it at destroytv.com. As a result it encompasses many simultaneous voices and motivations, of which any given user can be one. For the duration of the show it will be recording a searchable video lifelog of its experience that visitors can easily explore, edit, and comment on. They can also click through its live online video and visit Destroy as an avatar inside Second Life, surf over to its lifelog afterwards and find themselves in its perfect memory as part of the menagerie. Additionally on display in Fuse Gallery and at GHava{SL} Center for the Arts will be an installation documenting Destroy's real life conception beneath the kitchen sink as well as its early days in Second Life."

I decided to take Videos of the event since I'm going to Paris and Aix next week and I plan to blog and video blog, as well as paint, while I'm in France; thought I'd get started now with the Videoblogging since I haven't done much before.  I have 7 videos I just uploaded - look at them one at a time if your interested.

It's very much on my mind to bring in the Second Life Community to the Web Analytics Community (or vice versa - who's to say we should not be more involved in Second Life - since there are rich opportunities for virtual meetings and knowledge exchange).

I hope you look at all 7, they're short, and I'm still figuring out how to edit my movies.  Enjoy
