Emetrics Summit – San Francisco – Pre Day 1

Posted by Marshall Sponder on May 08, 2007 | Link It

I have been so busy and exhausted from the time change (traveling from East Coast to West Coast) that I literally have not had a chance to post – till now.  In fact, a couple of people came up to me at Emetrics yesterday and mentioned that I had not posted (and they were looking for a post) so here's one post – so far, of many more to come – as soon as I have some time to sit down and write them.

When I got to the Palace Hotel on Sunday night the first person I ran into was Joseph Carrabis of NextStage Evolution – puffing a cigar while standing outside the hotel.  We talked for a minute then I want inside and had a bite at the Pied Piper bar/lounge – which has a famous Maxfield Parrish painting called "Pied Piper of Hamelin" painting  done in 1906 (of course, I'm going to have to write about that in Artnewyorkcity.com – when I get the chance).

We then had a General Meeting of the Web Analytics Association where we heard about all of the great stuff the WAA has accomplished last year and where we're going (sorta) next year.

Any incoming Board Members were also introduced at the general meeting (including me); it looked like we had about 100 people in the room – but I'm not sure (I was trying to count but figured it was probably pointless since there was a list of people who were being checked off as we arrived for the meeting – the WAA knows how many attended).

Finally, many of us went out to dinner and it turned out to be a long night of interesting discussions and advice … maybe I'll get into it at another time or post.

By the time I got back to my hotel room on Sunday night (I'm not staying at the Palace Hotel) I was ready to collapse – and I did.   So it was not exactly …. Day 1, call this, Pre-Day 1.   Lot of networking, lot of great people.   I'll cover Day 1 in  my next post.
