Last year I wrote a review of Knover.com that was kinda tough on the service. Well, Knover just relaunched as a forum for Pundits 2008.
Too tired to take a look today but I did want to pass along their recent press release; I'll review Knover.com in more detail later this week.
New York, NY - Think about everything you loved about dorm room
debates: budding minds, know-it-alls, sheltered innocents, differing
views, and unadulterated enthusiasm. Be nostalgic no more.
Knover is pleased to announce its new online community, a political
dorm room for the Internet: Pundits 2008.
A website dedicated to the wisdom and idealism, and the faux pas and
follies, of the 2008 presidential election, Knover Pundits 2008
provides a stimulating place for tête-à-tête dialogue and debate
among people of different backgrounds and political persuasions.
“I just wished there were more places, better places, where people
could go online to discuss and debate as opposed to just listening to
people they already agree with,” notes Co-Founder and CEO John
Collier. The initial inspiration was Collier’s meaningful and
passionate dorm room discourse while in school. “I always walked out
of the room feeling challenged and better informed for having had
those discussions. When people sign-off of Knover, I want them to
have that same feeling,” says Collier.
A Knover Pundit builds up grassroots expertise on presidential
candidates and political notables through a prominent rating system.
“Since we all won’t be in an actual dorm room, our rating system is a
proxy for the subtle yet critical evaluations one person makes of
another’s credibility.” explains Co-Founder and Director of Research
and Development, Brian Lima. Ratings will indicate agreement, strength of argument, and level of insight. By subjecting each Pundit’s post to an easy, yet explicit, peer review, the community
maintains its desired level of dialogue. By bringing their knowledge, perspective, and thoughts to Knover, a Pundit can build a reputation, gain popularity, and establish a following indicated by other Pundits’ ratings, posts, and comments.
Knover’s mission is to extract knowledge and meaning from online textthrough its patent pending associative search technology. Pundits 2008 complements Knover’s mission by extracting stories, thoughts,
and opinions from those who haven’t yet found a place for informed political discourse on the Internet.
