HipStop.com - Google should buy this company

A lot of sites I hear about sound cool, but often they are hyped.  Not this site, I only heard about it today, and if I were Google, I'd buy this company right now.  Why?

Let me step back for a second.  I just found out about a Make.com music event tonight in Brooklyn.  I live in Brooklyn.  The event is located at Etsy Labs & MAKE offices in downtown Brooklyn - great, except I don't know how to get to 325 Gold Street, 6th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201. I don't have a car these days and I probably would not drive there if I could.

So what I do, I put 325 Gold Street into Google Maps and I get driving directions - but I don't want driving directions, I want Transit Directions - because I live in New York City.

Enter www.HipStop.com, which gave me the directions exactly, plus a visual on how to get there - and even asked me if I'd prefer to Trains vs. Train and Bus, vs. Walking.  It also tells me exactly how long it's going to take for me to get there and how long each leg of the trip will take, including the parts that are walking. There's also a lot of additional Advanced Options so you can customize your directions by public transportation.

I sent the directions to my mobile phone and my handheld email account - plus I got a nice picture of the intersection in Brooklyn where I'd start my walk over to Etsy.com/Make.com's offices.

Now, when go to HipStop.com, turns out, there's only 5 cities that are covered -

Perhaps Make.com or Etsy.com is part of the development of HipStop.com; I don't know but I'll certainly ask about it tonight.

What Google could do with HipStop.com - use their enormous resources to make HipStop.com cover ever municipality that has public transportation and make it part of Google Maps … that would be quite something.

True, the majority of the country lives in areas where they mostly drive - but 40% of the country doesn't drive to everything - here's a big opportunity - but a lot of work too getting all the public info data and making a product that still works well.

I noticed a lot of local advertising opportunities here - local search - could be very effective in a HipStop.com set of directions.

We know Google is developing a Mobile Phone - right?  Yes they are.  We know that Google is getting into PPA advertising and they're also working on Local Search.

As you can see, Juvenex just happens to be on the way to the Subway where I'd take the Q train to Brooklyn.   I have to admit, I'm looking at that ad, again and again - more than I need to.

So… Google, buy HipStop.com, make this product work in every major city- tie it with Google Maps and sell local PPC and PPA advertising up the Yin Yang.   But it's also a good thing for everybody.  Not everyone drives.  We need to know how to get to places in big cities having public transportation.

A couple of months ago I wrote about HopStop.com - Google should buy this company?  Now, it seems like there may be more than wind in my sail, according to TechCrunch:"…Google may be environmentally conscious, but they certainly not helping…
