Waiting for Compete

With a post like Colabertation: Colbert Report and fans take on Wikipedia from Compete.com it's apparent that Compete.com's platform can do a lot more than what is publicly available.  Take a look at this chart:

There's nothing like this that you can produce with Compete.com today – unless you work there – but this kind of power would be enormous – sure, Compete probably had to go out and crawl WikiPedia and categorize all the content – but here's a great example of how Web Analytics can make a difference.

I would love to have a chance to use this kind of information -which shows a traffic lift by subject/topic – to do something like this with the tools I have at my disposal, that most peop0le have at access to – would be next to impossible to do.

Again, another great chart that shows how The Colbert Report affected traffic to Wikipedia content.

I hope that the next version of Compete puts some of this power into our hands – I know that I, for one, can find a lot of uses for this kind of information.
