This news is very welcome  about Google Reader tracking RSS Feeds – though it looks like the stats won't be available till Saturday morning, February 17th.

The Google Reader blog announced today that Google Reader and the Google Personalized Homepage are now counting subscriber numbers. There were so many feed-related products at Google, the team says, that it took a long time to complete the task: it’s now done, and readers are being tallied.

If you’re a blogger, you’ll now be able to see how many people are reader your blog via those services: Feedburner says its numbers will be updated on Saturday morning, EST.

Google has also rolled out a Google Reader for Publishers page, providing tips to help your subscribers and recommendations for promoting your feed. Among them: publishing an “Add to Google” button, like Mashable’s button below.

What's not clear to me …..is FeedBurner supplying the RSS Subscriber info for each feed to Google Reader?  That would be FANSTASTIC!   Let's hope I'm reading this the right way.
