Collarity is a pretty interesting Categorization Engine for Web Analytics but it's also a Search Engine (and it does stream advertising via LookSmart and other partners - running Collarity on your site can actually make you money.
Anyway - it turns out MyFox NY is running Collarity right now but not all of Collarity's features are enabled on the MyFoxNY site. What happens when I search for "art openings"? in the search box at MyFoxNY now? It's blank. Collarity is telling me that there's really no audiences coming to this site that are interested in Art Openings. But, if I type in "American Idol" I get this:
When clicking on a search result, like "No Fuel for American Idol Contestant" your taken to the most relevant page for the most popular audience Collarity found at your site at the moment the search is executed.
Now, Collarity uses whatever Search Engine you have - it sorta "sits" above your search engine your using and serves search results based on community behavior - which is unique.
Collarity can segment your searches by what it learns about you, what it knows about the most dominant communities on the site and what it knows of the Global Audience (see the slider/dial below):

The Slider bar determines which communities ware going to be used for a search. ON the MyFox site, the slider bar is currently disabled so you get the preferences for the main community on the site - and that's it.
I expect to see more interesting features about Collarity coming out soon and hope to meet with Collarity in NYC next month or a demo and another in depth interview.
