Influence Ripples

Look at this diagram and the commentary that goes with it about Influence Ripples.  I’m not sure where David Armano, the creative director at Digitas, got the diagram from (or if he created it himself).

I suppose that the number of links to the blog come from Technorati - that’s what we use at Know More Media to access the influence of a blog (or at least, one measure of it).

My core interests lie in the area of Business Intelligence and Decision Making. My blog focuses on Web Decision Making and thoughts / ideas / opinions on the old world of Web Analytics and the new world of actionable Web Insights.

Avinash Kaushik is definately catching up to Webmetricsguru - but not that HitWise is calling itself a Web Metrics blog - none of us can rank as number one - as they have at least 4 times the number of links as his blog 3 times the number as mine.

For any subject then, be it Web Analytics, Web Metrics, Art, who the the influencer blogs?  According to the diagram, you need about 1000 Technorati links, if I read this correctly, to be a major player in shaping opinion.

If I look at the category of Art, here’s how it would fall out with PostSecret and ZeFrank being the main blogs and by the time you get to the second page of results you drop dwon from 1884 links (at the time of this writing) to 200 (wierd).
