Interesting, yet disturbing post at Search Engine Roundtable about SEO’s using their SEO skills to get even with people who they have had a bad experience with.
"For example, let’s say I bought a car from a local dealer and I was very upset with the whole process. I can create a web site or even post an entry on a blog with the title "Car Dealer Name Ripped Me Off." Typically, ranking well for a company name is easy, unless they are huge brands. But when it comes to a local guy or even a person’s name, typically, it is easy."
I can think of someone who has really hurt me recently but I would not use SEO for getting even. Using SEO to get even won’t fix anything - it will just make it worse. It gets more complicated - people often believe they doing the right thing (at least, for them) when they are hurtful and dishonest; it’s wrong to operate that way, but it’s also not my place to fix it.
When I think about right and wrong - I picture the Middle East - Isreal, Lebenon, Iran, Iraq, etc. Every country thinks they know the right thing to do, the way things should be - but nothing ever gets solved in the Middle East because they’re busy attacking - back and forth. It’s the prefect example - the more each country attacks to get even - the worse the Middle East gets. And the same thing with SEO - it’s not worth it - people who operate in ways that hurt others will get what they deserve eventually.
