Oil paintings inspired by video-game scenes

I suppose it had to happen.  I mean, if people take life and make it art, why not take art and make it life?

According to Boing Boing, Jeremiah Palacek, a painter in the Czech Republic, paints beautiful oils of scenes out of video games and sells them online via his blog and eBay. Link (via Collision Detection.

I suppose by that reasoning, I could just as easily paint, say, Google Search Engine Results, or a Web Page’s Clickstream Analysis, but I don’t yet do this.

I’m curious about any copyright infringement. I know it’s alright to paint a copyrighted image for personal use, but selling it? Hmmm….

As an aside, I love Mario Bros. and still have the original game/Nintendo set.
