Idling In America II - Search Demographics from AdCenter

In my earlier post Idling In America - Search Trends from AdCenter I covered Search Trends for American Idol 5, including those of Taylor Hicks, Katherine McPhee and second season superstar Clay Aiken.

Katherine McPhee had more men searching on her because she’s young and attractive, especially men 36-50 years old (that’s probably who voted for her mainly - judging from the search audinece from Microsoft AdCenter).

Clay Aiken, who we can almost say won AI 2, has many more woman searching for him on the web than men - and after 51 years of age, it’s 10:1 woman over men.  BTW, I looked at Ruben Studdard- who is not searched on much but did get a spike due to American Idol 5 this month, and woman search for him more than men, except there’s not enough data to fill in all the demographic age groups.

Taylor Hicks won American Idol 5 and his audience was broader but I think much more strongly skewed to females than males.   More men are interested in voting for a woman like Katherine McPhee who they can imagine themselves with than a male vocal - that’s just my take.

Here’s how they compare in terms of Searcher Demographics:
