Does Textbook SEO Really Work Anymore?, Redux

Posted by Marshall on May 02, 2006 | Link It

Mike Grehan’s interview with Matt Cutts was not what this ClickZ article was about; the link from Mike Grehan’s blog suggested it would be about Matt Cutts.

Mike Grehan picks up on the subject of Textbook SEO which does not work anymore (I don’t know if it ever did - or if it did work, not for very long).

Search Google for "pinot grigio," and look at the top result.

"I asked whether he believed he could rank at number one at Google not only without any of those things but… wait for it… without ever having had his page crawled by Google."

I’m wondering about that because there’s a pagerank=2 on this page; I thought a page needed to be crawled in order to have pagerank applied.

Hi, nice blog and thx for the info.

Does anyone know where I could find THE BEST search engine optimization guide online? I am mostly looking for a guide that shows how you can SEO your site or blog without spending a fortune. I need the info to create a similar step by step guide on my website, Web2earn.com – online moneymaking opportunities

Another question: does anyone here have success with automated link exchange websites?

Regards,

Not sure what the bid deal is? The Pino page is blocked from being indexed. But has a lot of anchor text (Spam?) for the term - Pino Grigio. Or is this the point that’s being made? You don’t need the content on the page, if you have the links. In that case yes, it’s been like that for a long time.
