Video Increasing Conversion Rates

Posted by Marshall on April 12, 2006 | Link It

According to a post in ConversionRuler Video advertising increases site conversion rates.

Can video increase your conversion rate?  Andrew Johnson’s Web Publishing Blog has an interview with Brendon Sinclair about a website he made that is just a video case study that promotes Aaron Wall’s SEO Book.  What’s interesting is that Brendon also has a normal site promoting the book, but the video site gets four times the conversion rate.

I looked at both sites and and the layout and pretty much everything else is different.  I don’t think I’d put it all on the Flash Video.   The only thing the two sites have in common is they are selling the same product…and that’s it.

I don’t like flat out comparisons like this because they’re misleading.

I see your point, but a flat out comparison is only misleading in the case that it really is misleading. If it’s not the video format, what’s causing the 400% conversion increase? The background color differences?

I totally understand the value of doing clean tests and comparisons, but in certain cases it’s still pretty obvious what the main factor is a huge conversion difference.

I agree, it’s too simple a break down. But the video is very effective at getting the message across. Brendan is a great speaker.
