The butt brush - Eyetracking

EyeTracking is highlighted in Seth’s post on Paco Underhill.   EyeTracking is a valuable addition to site analysis but it’s not the first thing I’d do-it’s more of a value added service for sites that wish to improve conversion rates.

One of my clients is studying a proposal right now that includes a 10 hour EyeTracking Study of their site - this costs a couple of thousand dollars to have done.   I’m fine, as the consultant on this project, to reccomend it - but not before we get the PPC campaign running and more profitable and not before the basic SEO Issues of a site are worked out.

At SESNY06 I did not go the Search Algo session this time because I got more value from something I did know about, Podcasting Optimization.  At the Search Algo session, EyeTracking studies are used to study how people navigated Google, MSN and Yahoo.   Fine.  That’s great…but it’s not going to change anyone’s life.
