I was checking some of the news sources I had on my earlier post for Reputation Tracking which I got from Andy Beal. It’s been on my mind to test things that I post here and see how they work.
I was surprised to see how well Memeorandum.com honed in on current politicial buzz. I’m refering to the Claude A. Allen story that gets lost in Google News, is right on the top of Memeorandum.com and gets cataogorized as a Right/Left news source by Blogniscient.com.
What I’d like to see is a good mapping view of current news - in other words, a news summerizer that is also graphical. Some attempts have been made in the past to do something like this - Colombia NewsBlaster which I’ve coaxed to give graphic timeline views - but it never worked very well.
Was just thinking about how to monitor your reputation - i see what ever information its picked up off the web might be slanted depending on who wrote it. When there were less news sources and no web, you just had newspapers, radio - you had a couple of versions of information to pick from. Now you have a Supermarket of information to choose from and sort though. HEre’s some examples of today’s news I picked off the web.
When you compare how a stories are presented in Google News and then in MSM, you get a different picture of what’s going on.
