Almost every day I notice a new service involving Podcasts. Now that Podcasting is becoming mainstream efforts are underway to monetize it; one of these is Pod2Mobile.
"Pod2Mobile’s solution extends podcasters’ reach to wireless phones while creating an opportunity for Madison Avenue to reach fickle audiences directly in their pocket," says Brad Zutaut, co-founder of Pod2Mobile. "We believe we are doing for podcasting what Google’s AdSense did for online advertising."
"According to BusinessWeek, Sequoia Capital believes podcasting is positioned to capture $1 to $2 billion away from the $30 billion traditional radio advertising market over the next three to five years. And eMarketer predicts that an estimated $80 million in podcast ad spending in 2006 will balloon to $300 million in 2010."
Conservative estimates of 10% of radio advertising spend away from radio and onto Podcasts….I bet it will be more like 15% to 20% moving over to Podcasts. I wonder what effect that will have on Radio Advertising? Perhaps it will become cheaper so as to compete with Podcast Advertising.
