Just read Kevin Ryan’s review of SESNY2006. I ususally read his column in ClicKZ whenever it comes out; I’ve never met him but I’m told I was standing right next to him last year at SESNY2005.
It sounds like Kevin read my blog post on the Interview with Barry Diller and summarized what I wrote down (maybe it’s my imagination). Also, aside from describing the first day of sessions I did not see anything in Kevin’s article that references day 2-4 except a notation that
"If the buzz at SES is any indication, measurement and management are hot topics in the search business, and as more providers introduce their own brand of search management tools, we can expect see a great deal more robust platform based approaches to search management"
I could have written the without attending SESNY2006. Having been at the show all 4 days I have a clear idea of what went on at the conference. Editorially, to write about an event attended you should mention what days you attended. To me, much of the best of SESNY06 was days 3 & 4, which Kevin did not cover (maybe he was not there to cover it - if so, he should say that in the article). It’s OK not to cover the whole conference - just tell us which days you attended and what sessions you went to.
Again, the HitWise and SEMphonic announcements (which I covered in this blog) are not about the conference - they happened afterwords; the only thing about SESNY06 are the first 3 sections of the ClickZ article that cover the first couple of sessions of Day 1 and Day 2.
