According to John Batalle, Google appears to be testing an interesting new approach to SERP layout in Italy, more here.

The page is in Italian so there’s not much more I can add except you need FireFox to view the new SERP layout.

I’m not yet clear what the bar chart on the upper left adds to the search experience - in other words I’m not clear if it’s going to be useful or not.
