Evening Forum with Danny Sullivan - my take

Danny Sullivan usually has an evening session to discuss the conference and get feedback from attendees.

  Evening Forum with Danny Sullivan

The audience is the panel for this session, which lets those in the search engine marketing industry share thoughts, knowledge and ideas among themselves. The session is moderated by Search Engine Watch editor Danny Sullivan, and the audience sets the agenda. After you’ve had a drink at the networking cocktail reception, come over, sit down and take part in this informal, popular "after hours" discussion.

One woman said she was having problems going to all the sessions she wanted to attend because many times they are running at the same time.

The suggestion came up that a CD with all the presentations be available either before the conference or as people arrive at the conference.  Podcasting of the sessions was also discussed but Danny was clear about not wanting to see audio files of the sessions appear online and be sold for profit.  In some cases, certain presentations can not be made available online because they are still considered confidential even though they are presented at a conference (figure that one out).

Finally, Danny suggested that you only need to go to one Search Engine Strategies a year as most of the material is the same in each of the conferences.  If people are coming to more than one SES a year and getting board, they should not be coming that often.  Still, Danny tries to come up with something new for each conference so people who do come to more than one conference a year will still find that new thing they did not hear before.  It’s a balancing act.

The buzz was palpable at the Search Engine Strategies Conference at the NY Hilton this week. All those SEM/SEO, AdWords/AdSense pundits in one room! The Kool Aid was especially potent.
