Chris Anderson’s upcoming blog network.

"Blog Networks" - I do key into that term now because I write for a Blog Network, Know More Media which publisheds WebMetricsGuru.

According to Jason Calacanis,

Chris Anderson has been an amazing editor at WIRED–perhaps the best ever. However, it’s clear to me that editing WIRED is just a stepping stone for him on his way to starting his own blog network. :-)

In a related story, world-famous VC Fred Wilson is coming to work at Engadget.

To recap the major trends: Magazine editors, VCs, and movie stars want to be bloggers, and Internet entrepreneurs want to make movies. The grass is always greener I guess.

So….everyone wants to be a blogger now.   I’ve been thinking about this lately - not just about blogs, but the increase of channels on Cable TV, the increase of more programming that targeted to specific audiences (in some cases niche audiences).

No matter how many channels are added - there does not seem to be enough good programming on at any particular time!   Have you ever noticed how little there is to watch during the day on Cable - no matter how much programming and how many channels - we want more and more programming and channels.

As consumers of information we’re looking for meaning - and new information we can use - blog networks serve that need partly.  I think there should be more blog networks, not less!   It’s hard to imagine, given our need for information and commentary, that there can be too many blog networks.

Noticed the same thing with Web Metrics (this is a blog about Web Metrics so I should stay of theme) where people are getting overwealmed with data, but not useful information - and information they can use and act on is what they really want.   I think Blog Networks also provide information people can act on and really want in the information and current events sphere.
