Should I Make Pages for My Different Customer Types?

Arron Wall at SeoBook posted about making different landing pages for different types of customers.   My Web Metrics research supports his opinion (and it’s been my belief as well for quite some time).

One of my SEO clients is a well known West Coast Residential Architectual firm that provides top quality house plans.   The styles of house plans are not as diverse as some of the larger house plans sites - but everything on this site is created for quality and is rendered well (photo realistic computer generated house plan views).

The main page of www.mascord.com site lists the many types of house plan styles offered (below the fold at this time); this is common practice among most sites of this type.  However, my research using MSN Ad Center confirmed my belief that the audience for many of the house plan styles were different.   If they are really different enough - does it make sense to list them all together?   I’m not sure - but I’m leaning to say it may not be the best thing to do for an online commerce site.

Here’s an example of differences int the audiences for  two house plan styles offered on www.mascord.com :

People searching for Prairie house plans (inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright) tend to be Male, at least till age 35, between 36-50 more Woman become interested and it’s mostly Males after 50 years of age.

The user audience looking for Southwest house plans is a little different (yet you’d think there would be a great deal of overlap because you can build both styles in the same area).   Yet there are differences in the audience even for plans that you would think the audience is the same; more Woman are searching between ages 18-50.

The areas where people where searching is different too (this is based on December 05 data).

The locations where searches are located are also somewhat different Prairie styles more speadout while Southwest plans are more in the West and MidWest, as one would expect (given the name).

Does it make sense to put both plans together and just let some one choose (like a menu) or is there anothe way?  I’ll expore that in following posts.  I’m open to ideas though, if anyone what’s to leave a comment.
